Install Cordova and Phonegap on Ubuntu 14.04

Step 1 : Install nodejs and npm

Cordova and PhoneGap are usually installed using node packages. So if you don't have it yet, you need to install both nodejs and npm (node package manager).

$ sudo apt-get install nodejs npm

On recent versions of nodejs, the alias node is not created. And if you try to use it right now, the system will tell you to install the package called node. So we will make that alias ourselves.

$ sudo ln -s /usr/bin/nodejs /usr/bin/node

Step 2 : Install ant

That is probably the hardest thing you will have to do today.

$ sudo apt-get install ant

Step 3 : Install Cordova and PhoneGap

Now that npm and node are installed, installing Cordova and PhoneGap is really easy.

$ sudo npm install -g cordova phonegap

Step 4 : Recover

if you are feeling well after these last three steps, then you should try Cordova or PhoneGap (or both). It should be running just fine.

Step 5 [Optionnal] : Install android sdk
